PERFORMERS NEEDED FOR SMALL-VENUE CONCERT SERIES

Dallas Heritage Village at Old City Park is introducing a new music series, "Acoustic Night at the Alamo Saloon." This is a fund-raising effort that will help support the accredited, nonprofit educational museum, which has seen a drop in donations due to the downturn in the U.S. economy. Dallas Heritage Village serves 40,000 schoolkids from the region -- not just Dallas -- every year, and is an important reservoir of North Central Texas history.

The venue seats only 25 people, so the effect is similar to that of a "house concert," except it is held in a 1910 saloon! Performers must be willing to donate a one and a half- to two-hour performance. Acoustic or lightly-amplified acts only; must have experience performing live; acts able to draw from an established fanbase preferred; soloists, duos and trios preferred. Note: If you are an act that can draw 50 or more people, venue can be moved to the 1870s church.

Background: tickets are sold by advance reservation for $5 a seat. BYOB is allowed with a $10-per-bottle corkage fee, which goes to the museum. Museum owns a small Peavy PA system or musicians can bring their own. No smoking venue. Series is designed for an adult evening out; kids are not encouraged to attend unless the act is specifically child-oriented. Event is held on a Thursday evening, 7-9 p.m., each month.
