Festival of Musicians on a Texas Beach March 12-14
Multiple stages and performance areas are scattered over 200 acres of gently rolling land just minutes from the white sandy
beaches of the Gulf of Mexico. Right in the midle of Spring Break for 1.2 million college students.
Performers share music around the camp, or shine on the big stages in "The Guantlet" Multi Stage Showcase Competition
Competing Bands/Singers/Songwriters will "Run The Gauntlet" performing on a series of stages.
Performers share in Festival of Musicians revenues. 25% of gate proceeds from ticket sales go back to the PERFORMERS via the audience in the form of VOTING TOKENS called "Kudos"
Giving "Kudos" is how festival goers show appreciation for acts they like.
Performers trade "Kudos" in for cash and each "kudos" equals 1 vote.
Acts with the most "Kudos" advance to the higher level stages of the "Guantlet" and Big Star Status.
The TOP ACTS become the Festival of Musicians Headliners and perform on the giant mainstages for the entire festival crowd.
You may employ "Kudos" collection teams to help you collect "Kudos" from listeners. In fact, you can collect "kudos" just
about any way you can. For instance, you can perform as a band in "The Gauntlet" and perform on a singer/songwriter stage as
solo acts, pooling your band "Kudos" You can even gain "Kudos" playing around your camp.
Ticket amd camping fees have been kept low to ensure that everyone can participate. Tickets are 12.99 or $30 for a 3 day pass. Camping is $15 and includes a space for your car. Motorhomes/Campers/Trailers and other large vehicles are $1 Ft per day.
Festival of Musicians was created with a lot of love and inspiration by it's participants and we are all working together to make this a spectacular annual event with a world-wide draw.
There are about 130 confirmed acts so far with more confirming every day. We have room for 420. There is no sign up fee.
I hope will join us.
Sincerely,
Rick Shell

Tom Russell at McDavid Studio on Nov 10
11/10/2009 8:00 PM at Tom Russell
301 E. 5th St., Fort Worth, Texas 76102
Cost: $25
Over the past 30 years, Tom Russell has established himself as a boldly imaginative singer/songwriter whose poetic, small-detail-filled songs are more like character sketches than traditional folk numbers. While many of his songs have been covered by country/folk luminaries such as Johnny Cash, k.d. lang and Guy Clark, to name a few, it’s been his adventurous concept albums that have brought him to the forefront of the contemporary folk scene.

PERFORMERS NEEDED FOR SMALL-VENUE CONCERT SERIES
The venue seats only 25 people, so the effect is similar to that of a "house concert," except it is held in a 1910 saloon! Performers must be willing to donate a one and a half- to two-hour performance. Acoustic or lightly-amplified acts only; must have experience performing live; acts able to draw from an established fanbase preferred; soloists, duos and trios preferred. Note: If you are an act that can draw 50 or more people, venue can be moved to the 1870s church.
Background: tickets are sold by advance reservation for $5 a seat. BYOB is allowed with a $10-per-bottle corkage fee, which goes to the museum. Museum owns a small Peavy PA system or musicians can bring their own. No smoking venue. Series is designed for an adult evening out; kids are not encouraged to attend unless the act is specifically child-oriented. Event is held on a Thursday evening, 7-9 p.m., each month.
To find out more, contact DSA member Mary Guthrie at maryguthrie@swbell.net; if you have a web presence please include link. Thank you!
